Does the OWC Mercury Pro come with an optical drive?

No. The Mercury Pro is an empty enclosure. You fit your own 5.25-inch SATA CD, DVD, or Blu-ray drive, sold separately.

Will it work with my Apple silicon Mac?

Yes. It connects over USB 3.2, USB 3.0, or USB 2.0. Current Macs with only USB-C ports will need a USB-C to USB-A adapter.

Does it need external power?

Yes. The enclosure ships with its own power adapter and does not draw power from the USB port alone.

Can it burn Blu-ray discs?

Yes, if you fit a Blu-ray capable SATA optical drive. The enclosure itself is drive-agnostic and supports CD, DVD, and Blu-ray mechanisms up to 17.2cm deep.
